KRISTEN L. REXROAT is a partner with Chartwell's New York City office. She received a B.A., summa cum laude, in Economics, Political Science and Spanish from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2013.

While in law school, Ms. Rexroat was an articles editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law and participated in the moot court and mock trial competitions. She also participated in the Civil Litigation Clinic, arguing before Administrative Law Judges on behalf of those who could not afford legal services.  Ms. Rexroat interned for a small general practice law firm and clerked for a Judge at the Marion County Superior Court, where she gained substantial experience in different litigation practice areas.  She also secured an internship with the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights in Berlin, Germany, assisting with the organization’s mission of litigating abuses of human rights throughout the world.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Ms. Rexroat worked as an associate at a workers’ compensation plaintiff’s law firm in New York City where she successfully litigated many cases on a daily basis.  Ms. Rexroat has tried numerous cases and made appearances at all of the downstate hearing points.  She became proficient in crafting written and oral arguments on behalf of her clients before Administrative Law Judges and the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.  In addition to trials, Ms. Rexroat conducted many depositions of medical witnesses, gave oral arguments before the appeals board and drafted and filed multiple appeals when necessary.

Ms. Rexroat also previously worked as a Public Service Fellow with the Legal Aid Society in New York City, assisting low-income entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations with many transactional legal issues, including corporate governance, contracting and employment issues.

As a member of the New York Workers’ Compensation Practice Group, Ms. Rexroat now defends self-insured employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators.  She enjoys her work and is dedicated defending her clients and to serving their interests in New York workers’ compensation claims including representation at hearings, preparing appeals, negotiating settlements and conducting depositions.
