Adam T. Devine is an Associate in Chartwell’s New York City office. Mr. Devine received a B.A. in Economics from Emory University in 2004, and a J.D. from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2011.

At Emory, Mr. Devine studied both Economics and History. He served on the Student Programming Council, where he was Homecoming Chair. He also participated in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the Track and Field team, competing in the shot-put and the hammer-throw.

At Ohio State, Mr. Devine served on the Student Bar Association and gained real-world experience handling cases through his work in the Civil Law Clinic. He also interned at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, where he worked in the Office of Court performance practices for court operations as well as developed and conducted customer satisfaction surveys to improve litigant and attorney experience. While in law school, Mr. Devine also organized the Moritz Tennis League, and served as the Captain of the intramural flag football team while competing against teams from the other professional schools at Ohio State.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Mr. Devine worked as an associate at a worker’s compensation plaintiff’s firm, where he handled the full spectrum of worker’s compensation matters. Mr. Devine successfully handled a high volume case-load, from client intake to litigating trials to writing and filing appeals. Mr. Devine has appeared at most of the downstate hearing locations, and has developed strong relationships with the other professionals in the worker’s comp field.

As a member of the New York Worker’s Compensation Practice Group, Mr. Devine now defends self-insured employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. He enjoys leveraging his experience as a claimant-side attorney to represent his clients in the full lifecycle of compensation claims, including representation at hearings, settlement negotiations, and depositions.

In his personal life, Mr. Devine serves as a Captain of the Prospect Park Track Club, a Brooklyn-based running club with over 600 members, and regularly competes in ultra marathons. He also devotes time to volunteering at citizenship registration events through the CUNY Citizenship NOW! project, and to the Back On My Feet program helping to combat homelessness. In addition, he has  served as a guest lecturer on Project and Program Management at Pratt Institute in their School of Information.

Mr. Devine has been an active member of the New York State, New York City, and Brooklyn Bar Associations since 2016.
