THOMAS A. STROHMETZ is a founding partner of The Chartwell Law Offices, LLP. Mr. Strohmetz began his legal career as a judicial clerk for The Honorable Vincent Cirillo of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. In 1995 he became associated with the Philadelphia firm Harvey Pennington, Ltd., where he devoted his practice to handling workers’ compensation, general liability, and premises liability matters. Mr. Strohmetz continued his career at Weber, Gallagher, Simpson, Stapleton, Fires & Newby where he became a partner while focusing his practice on Pennsylvania workers’ compensation claims. In 2002 Mr. Strohmetz founded Chartwell with three attorneys in one office in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Chartwell has since grown to over 100 attorneys in over a dozen offices in six states.
Mr. Strohmetz is committed to obtaining the best possible results for his clients, whether that means settling a minor claim early in litigation to save the client’s time and expense or whether it requires pursuing a matter to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mr. Strohmetz has ensured the closure of over 800 claims for his clients just since Chartwell’s inception in 2002. He has been successful in recovering millions for his clients in Supersedeas Fund Reimbursement since that time, and he has also saved his clients millions through creative and effective litigation practices.
Thomas has successfully defended workers’ compensation matters on behalf of insured and self-insured entities involving transportation agencies, trucking companies, national retailers, staffing companies, supermarkets, family owned businesses, and restaurant chains. The matters have included claims for orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injuries, occupational exposure, neuro-psychological disorders, pulmonary conditions, and psychological claims.
-Successfully obtained a suspension of claimant’s wage loss benefits for a large self-insured employer by establishing that the claimant was totally disabled due a non-work-related condition.

-Recently secured early dismissal of a claimant’s Review and Reinstatement Petitions based on the legal principles of res judicata and collateral estoppel without incurring the expense associated with protracted litigation and costly medical expert depositions.
-Recently settled case for just three (3) months of wage loss benefits, with no admission of liability, and no payment of any medicals, in a matter that involved surgery.
-Recently settled case for just seven (7) months of wage loss benefits, with no admission of liability, on a case involving surgeries to multiple body parts, while saving our client the expense associated with protracted litigation and costly expert deposition testimony.
-Recently secured withdrawal of Claim Petition by claimant’s counsel and the claim in its entirety, with no money paid by defendant, due to assertive litigation approach involving presentation of surveillance evidence at first hearing thereby convincing claimant’s counsel to withdraw the Claim Petition and his representation of the claimant.
-Recently settled a case for just nine (9) weeks of wage loss benefits.
-Recently settled claim for just eleven (11) weeks of wage loss benefits in a case involving knee surgery.
