Barrie Beer, an original partner in Chartwell Law’s Austin office, leads the firm’s Texas practice. With over thirty-four years of experience, she guides clients through insurance claims, coverage, and litigation, artfully balancing tenacity with collaboration and experience with creativity – always guided by each client’s unique objectives.
Barrie handles first-party and third-party coverage matters, defending contractual and extra-contractual claims, as well as bad faith and complex damage claims across a range of business lines, including property, general commercial liability, business policies, marine, motor vehicle, and more. She serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for several excess insurers across several lines of business.
Barrie has extensive experience in the investigation and early evaluation of damage claims, including those stemming from arson, fraud, mold, and wind. She manages complex institutional litigations while individualizing company representative and expert witness preparation and testimony.
Barrie particularly enjoys leading and customizing adjuster and appraiser training courses for her clients to assist the industry in delivering legally compliant and good faith policyholder service. She is a sought-after speaker on a range of insurance-related issues, including appraisal, arson, extra-contractual liability and litigation, good faith compliance, and more.
When she is not at the office, Barrie is out taking pictures, sailing or boating whenever possible, or at a college football game with friends.
