Carmen A. Nicolaou’s practice is primarily focused on complex litigation matters, ranging from construction accident/defect claims, assault, sexual assault, products liability, bullying, to wrongful death claims. These cases often include actions based on allegations of violations of the New York labor law, negligent supervision, negligent hiring, the Dram Shop Act, negligent security, and general negligence claims.
Carmen also handles matters in sports and entertainment entities, promoters of live entertainment, property owners and contractors in personal injury actions. She has experience handling professional liability, property damage claims, and business torts. In addition, Carmen advises businesses in employment-related compliance issues and state and federal statutory requirements.
She handles her claims from inception, through motion practice, trial, and/or appeals. Carmen takes a proactive role in counseling clients on risk management, in addition to risk transfer techniques, and strategies.
An experienced litigator, Carmen frequently authors articles and lectures on assault/negligent security, Dram Shop litigation, toxic torts, labor law, as well as the enforceability of waivers executed in connection with participation in sporting and recreational events.
