Christopher D. Pavuk, managing partner of Chartwell Law’s Scranton, Pennsylvania office, is a skilled attorney with a focus on defending employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured entities in workers’ compensation cases. Chris represents clients across diverse industries, including healthcare, trucking, and manufacturing, where he is instrumental in helping to mitigate liability and exposure. Known for his strategic approach, Chris conducts a comprehensive case analysis at the start of each engagement to determine whether litigation or settlement will achieve the most favorable outcome, saving his clients both time and costs.
Beyond his workers' compensation practice, Chris has significant experience representing clients in federal black lung and medical marijuana cases, demonstrating his versatility and depth of knowledge in complex regulatory and statutory areas. An active contributor to the legal community, he has spoken at numerous conferences, including the 22nd Annual Northeastern Rehabilitation Symposium, where he presented on the "Ethical Responsibility of Nurse Case Managers in Workers' Compensation,” and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s Fall 2024 Workers’ Compensation Section Meeting, where he conducted a CLE presentation.
Chris’s legal career began with a judicial clerkship under the Honorable Richard P. Conaboy of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and former Chairman of the United States Sentencing Commission in Washington, D.C. This experience exposed Chris to various fields of law, including civil rights, Social Security, and employment litigation, laying a strong foundation for his career in defense litigation.
Chris is widely recognized for his deep knowledge and commitment to achieving successful outcomes for his clients. He earned his J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1998 and his B.A. from the University of Scranton in 1994. Chris is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, bringing broad jurisdictional knowledge and experience to his clients.
