Christopher van Tienhoven is of counsel in Chartwell’s Boston office, where he focuses on general liability and casualty defense. He represents insurers, large corporations, and small businesses in a range of civil litigation matters, including construction defect, medical negligence, premises liability, and professional liability. A seasoned litigator, Chris has obtained defense verdicts on behalf of clients in state and federal courts throughout New England.
One of Chris’s notable outcomes is Faber v. McVay, 155 A.3d 153 (R.I. 2017), in which he represented an insurance agency in a professional liability action before the Rhode Island Supreme Court. The court ruled for Chris’s client when it denied the customer’s appeal against a grant of summary judgment.
Before joining Chartwell, Chris was an associate at a Providence law firm.
When he is not at the office, Chris enjoys attending sporting events – he has seen them in six different countries.
