Elizabeth “Betsy” Campo is a highly accomplished workers’ compensation attorney with over three decades of experience. Betsy is renowned for her ability to develop comprehensive case strategies and deliver successful outcomes in even the most complex legal matters. Her analytical mindset and persuasive communication skills make her a trusted advocate for employers throughout Florida.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Betsy was the managing partner at two prominent defense firms, having opened both of their Gainesville offices. Focusing her practice on defending employers in workers’ compensation claims, Betsy manages every phase of litigation with precision, from initial case analysis through resolution. She excels in case management, client representation, and settlement negotiations, always prioritizing her clients' goals. Known for her relationship-building skills, Betsy not only creates strong client connections but also serves as a mentor to junior attorneys, sharing her wealth of experience and encouraging professional growth within her team.

Throughout her career, Betsy has taken on leadership roles that extend far beyond her legal work. She has successfully managed office operations, overseen hiring and training efforts, led marketing initiatives, and handled budgeting responsibilities. Her leadership has been instrumental in expanding legal practices, streamlining processes, and enhancing team efficiency.

Admitted to practice law in Florida, Betsy is an active member of the Florida Bar Association, Iowa Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, and the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association. She earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1992, and her B.A. from the University of South Dakota.

Betsy speaks conversational Spanish and is a former college tennis player. She shares her life with her husband of nearly 30 years, three children, two dogs, and two cats. She also actively supports local pet rescue organizations by fostering animals, providing donations, and assisting with fundraising initiatives.

Betsy’s love story with her husband is one of resilience and dedication. During his Navy deployment in the Persian Gulf, they maintained their relationship through letters and satellite phone calls. A cherished memory for them is spending Christmas Eve 1995 in Rome, where they attended Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and saw Pope John Paul II—a once-in-a-lifetime experience they hope to recreate in the not-so-distant future.

Chartwell Law is fortunate to have Betsy on the team. Her depth of experience and dedication to both her clients and colleagues make her an invaluable asset to the firm, and her passion for mentoring and community engagement exemplify the values that Chartwell strives to uphold.
