Justin D. Siegwald is an insurance defense attorney representing insurance carriers, third-party associations and large self-insured businesses throughout Florida. Justin’s practice focuses on first-party property claims where he has successfully handled numerous matters, including catastrophic losses resulting from hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Furthermore, he is well versed in managing other insurance defense matters including third-party claims relating to bodily injury and under/uninsured motorists, as well as premises liability, professional liability and motor vehicle negligence litigation. Justin was instrumental in the matter of Lantana Insurance, LTD. v. Thornton, 118 So. 3d 250 (Fla. 3d DCA 2013) where he successfully obtained a writ of certiorari in a personal injury action, where the plaintiff filed a declaratory action against the defendant’s homeowner’s insurer prior to obtaining a settlement or verdict against the insured defendant.
In addition to his insurance coverage practice, Justin is accomplished in general liability defense, including construction defect, motor vehicle personal injury protection matters and commercial liability cases.
Prior to joining Chartwell Law, Justin was member of in-house staff counsel for a national insurance company in Miami, Florida, and prior to that he was an associate attorney for several well-known insurance defense firms. Upon graduating law school, Justin served as a law clerk for the Honorable Vance Salter of Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal.
