Robert Murtaugh focuses his practice on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and litigation. He primarily represents commercial lenders, including banks and debt service purchasers, as well as businesses with unpaid invoices.
Mr. Murtaugh helps his clients by collecting a large portion of their commercial debt and by representing them through the bankruptcy process to maximize their recovery.
Recently, Mr. Murtaugh has obtained full recovery of debt for a vendor in the Delaware Bankruptcy Court by having them named as a critical vendor and avoiding claw back by the trustee. Mr. Murtaugh discovers and executes assets of debtors to obtain the maximum recovery on the debts.
Robert began his legal career in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, concentrating in real estate transactions, loan documentation and mortgage foreclosure. He later expanded his focus into all aspects of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, routinely engaging in the workout and recovery phases of delinquent and non-performing loans. Thereafter, Mr. Murtaugh became a partner with a prominent law firm in Philadelphia where he gained extensive experience representing lenders in commercial collection matters and defending lender liability actions.
Mr. Murtaugh was appointed as counsel to the Institutional Review Board of St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and has been a member from 2007 to the present. He has lectured across the country for such organizations as the National Association of Fleet Administrators and the Electric Utilities Fleet Managers Conference on the topics of Negligent Entrustment and Vicarious Liability.
Mr. Murtaugh is also the treasurer of Southern Lehigh High School’s Baseball Booster Club and has raised over $10,000 for the Miracle League and Dream Come True.
