Richard Tomich is a highly skilled attorney based in Chartwell Law’s Peoria office, specializing in transportation law, construction law, product liability, and complex civil and commercial litigation. He holds both a Juris Doctor and an MBA from Creighton University, completing these degrees simultaneously in 2005. Richard also earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University in 2002.
With extensive trial and litigation experience in high-exposure cases across state and federal courts nationwide, Richard is known for his comprehensive approach to resolving even the most challenging legal matters. His practice areas span from trucking, railroad, and construction cases to toxic torts, business and commercial litigation, asbestos defense, and products claims. He regularly leads a diverse caseload and serves as the lead attorney for numerous clients and insurers. Richard's expertise in handling complex litigation, including cases involving severe injury and death, has earned him a reputation for delivering favorable outcomes for his clients.
In addition to his legal practice as a partner with Chartwell Law, Richard is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. He has also served as an editor for Defense Lawyers Association publications, contributing his insights and expertise to help shape industry knowledge. Richard volunteers his time as a pro bono attorney for federal cases and contributes to various charitable organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude.
Outside of his legal career, Richard enjoys coaching his kids in sports, being outdoors, and spending time with family.
