Last evening, Thursday, June 20, 2024, we had the immense pleasure of witnessing Mona Sarmadi being sworn in as President of the Society of NY Workers Compensation Bar Association at its annual dinner. This is a monumental moment for the NYWCBA and a testament to Mona’s dedication and leadership in the field.
As a partner and the head of Chartwell Law's New York Workers’ Compensation Practice Group, Mona is committed to the defense of self-insured entities, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. With extensive experience trying numerous cases and making appearances at all New York State hearing points, her familiarity with workers’ compensation law judges and claimant’s counsels will greatly benefit the NYWCBA.
Mona’s work with the United Nations-Women Division and her roles in social advocacy have equipped her with a deep understanding of policy-making, advocacy, and the importance of equity and inclusion. Her work supporting women's economic empowerment and monitoring rule of law initiatives will further contribute to the fostering of an inclusive and forward-thinking approach.
“It is an honor and privilege to be sworn in as the president of the New York Workers Compensation Bar Association. We may be adversaries and competitors, representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives. But most of all we’re a community united by a deep sense of purpose and belonging. Looking forward to bringing a fresh perspective to this role,” said Mona.
Additionally, we are proud to announce that Isis Davidson, a partner with Chartwell Law, was also added to the NYWCBA board.
Join us in congratulating Mona on this major achievement and wishing her continued success in her new role as President of the NYWCBA!
